GO WILD WITH FREE MOTION QUILTING
Saturday November 8th, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
$30.00 + HST Kit Fee $10.00
An adventurous workshop with those experienced machine. Quilters that want to branch out and experiment with their walking and free motion skills. A variety of techniques will be covered (including sketching/thread painting, stitching on paper, creating textured surfaces) A good starting point to those that would like to launch into creating their own fiber art.
Kit Fee $10 This kit includes everything you will need to crest a cloth book to record the techniques that you explore during the workshop.
Supply List for Go Wild with Machine Quilting
● sewing machine - in good working order with the capabilities of dropping your feed dogs. (if you are unsure please consult your manual or speak you’re your sewing machine dealer) You should be comfortable using your sewing machine and know how to thread your machine, wind the bobbin, adjust the tension, change the needles.
● Please bring your manual with you.
● Walking foot
● Free-motion foot for machine quilting - also known as a darning or embroidery foot (For some machines these names are interchangeable others there will be three different feet speak with your dealer for help and order early if you require this foot)
● thread in various colours - whatever you have
● extra bobbins
● basic sewing supplies including scissors, sewing machine needles (Schmetz 80/12 Universal), rotary cotter and ruler
The kit will include everything you need to create pages for your machine stitched cloth book that will hold your “experiments for the day” please bring from your own stash:
● Scraps of fabric any size – wee bits to larger pieces we’ll work with whatever you have
● Optional - leftover quilt blocks if you have any or quilt panels
● Trims, lace, old doilies
● pencil, pens and note paper
● Fine permanent marker
