Have some applique fun with your embroidery machine!! This, circle of hearts table center piece, would be perfect for your next coffee “gab session with the girls”, a tea party or even your book club night. Comes in 3 sizes as follows: 11.5 inches (diameter), 14 inches or 16 inches all dependent on the hoops that you have for your machine.
CIRCLE OF HEARTS Supply List:
Embroidery Supplies Needed
- Machine/Embroidery module/hoops/all necessary supplies
- 80/12 sharp embroidery needles
- Assortment of 40 wt. embroidery thread to contrast or match fabric
- Bobbin thread
- Tear away Stabilizer
- Small, curved embroidery scissors or tweezer snips
- Basic sewing supplies
(Examples: scissors, pins, rotary cutter, mat)
FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
The fabric amounts given are per block and you will need 6 blocks. The backing is for the whole table center.
5x7 – 13cm x 18cm
Fabric A - cut 1 - 18cm x 20cm (7” x 8”) background
Fabric B - cut 2 - 12cm x 16cm (4.5” x 6”) hearts
Fabric C - *cut later (measure your joined blocks first) approx. 35.5cm x 35.5cm (14” x 14”) backing
Batting 1 - 18cm x 20cm (7” x 8”) cut one for each block
6x10 – 16cm x 26cm
Fabric A - cut 1 - 20cm x 23cm (8” x 9”) background
Fabric B - cut 2 - 13cm x 18cm (5” x 7”) hearts
Fabric C - *cut later (measure your joined blocks first) approx. 43cm x 43cm (17” x 17”) backing
Batting 1 - 20cm x 33cm (8” x 9”) cut one for each block
7x12 – 18cm x 30cm
Fabric A - cut 1 - 23cm x 28cm (9” x 11”) background
Fabric B - cut 2 - 14cm x 22cm (5.5” x 8.5”) hearts
Fabric C - *cut later (measure your joined blocks first) approx. 48cm x 48cm (19” x 19”) backing
Batting 1 - 23cm x 28cm (9” x 11”) cut one for each block
Finished dimensions:
5x7 = 29cm (11.5”) in diameter 6x10 = 36cm (14”) in diameter 7x12 = 41cm (16”) in diameter
You will need threads to match your fabrics as well as a background thread for your underlying fabric. Either 3 or 6 different fabrics works well for this design. I used no show mesh cutaway as my stabilizer but, you can also use tearaway.
Your embroidery machine should be in good working order and a regular sewing machine is needed to put the blocks together. I will help show you how to assemble if you prefer not to bring 2 machines.
