EXPLORE THREAD PAINTING (Beginner)
Friday February 16th, 10:30 am - 4:30 pm

In this class students will learn how to shade a sunflower motif. You will be shown how to machine appliqué the easy way! Threads, needles, and appropriate machine technique to be discussed. This is a beginner thread painting project and after completion of this class students will be able to add thread painted motifs to their own quilted projects or make artistic home décor and expand on this technique.
Supply List
Fabric much like the sunflower sample photo/store sample
To have taken a free motion quilting class or have tried free motion quilting with a free motion/darning foot, minimal experience required
A sewing machine with the ability to lower the feed dogs
A free motion foot
Fabric for background, backing & binding- refer to project photo
Fabric for appliques- small pieces, fat quarters are wonderful
Small piece of batting- refer to size of project
Decorative threads- variegated, cotton and embroidery threads etc. – An assortment of colours for shading from light to dark, greens, yellow, orange, brown, black, light pink, dark pink, depending on the project you choose- please look at the project you chose
White Freezer Paper
Small scissors (applique scissors are wonderful)
¼ m Light weight fusible web
¼ m of medium weight tear away interfacing
Microtex sewing machine needles – 80 or higher in size
