BINDING A QUILT

$40.00 + HST Optional: $ 25.00 kit fee for those who do not have their own quilt to bind. Kit will contain a quilted piece approximately 20 x 15 (placemat size) with matching binding.

Thursday December 7th, 10:30 am - 2:30 pm

In this 4 hour class, participants will learn to bind their quilt. Instruction includes, preparing a sandwiched quilt for binding, rotary cutting and piecing strips to create their own binding (width of fabric or on the bias), attach the binding to your quilt by machine and begin hand stitching the binding in place. Beginner level.

Recommended Supply List

- unbound quilted quilt top with extra backing and batting still attached to the quilt
- enough fabric for 2.5” strips for binding (length of quilt + width of quilt x 2 plus 10”)

• thread
• Sewing machine
• Scissors
• Sewing gauge
• Stitch ripper
• Rotary cutter
• Rotary cutting ruler (recommend 6” or 6.5” x 24)
• Rotary cutting mat (at least 18” x 24”)
• regular or quilting sharp sewing needle

• ­items are essential tools for class.

Please contact the instructor if you do not have the required tools. The instructor has limited number of tools available for participant use.
